The premise
At the last possible moment, Nina’s husband cancels the dinner they had planned. Her night out becomes a quiet evening at home, and the only other person in the house is his adult son. Candy’s synopsis makes her reaction perfectly clear: she is not going to sulk, she is going to get even.
That is the whole premise, and Candy’s stepfamily-heavy catalogue already holds many like it. What sets this one slightly apart is the motive. Nina is not so much lonely or bored as angry, so everything that follows plays as revenge on a husband who is not even around to witness it.
