Introducing Evangelina and Chad
Evangelina has only just met Chad, her stepfather’s younger brother, and he is trouble of the most tempting kind. Together they head out on a yacht for what Candy describes as a wild party, where the bikinis barely hold on and the fun never seems to stop.
Two things define it. First, the family connection is one step removed: Chad is her stepdad’s brother, not a stepbrother or a stepfather, so the Taboo tag only applies loosely. Second, everything happens at a party on the water, which makes it much more a vacation fantasy than a domestic drama.
The good and the not so good
- The setting takes the lead. Most taboo series stay in living rooms and bedrooms, so a yacht party is a welcome change that suits a sunny, relaxed tone.
- A woman in the spotlight. The focus is on Evangelina rather than a male narrator, which gives the setup a slightly different angle.
- Thin on plot. After she meets Chad and boards the yacht, the synopsis mentions no conflict, no rival and no secret. Mood wins over story.

As on nearly every Candy series, episodes 1 and 2 are free, and they reveal whether Evangelina and Chad have the chemistry the premise relies on. Should you watch it?
Go for it if you enjoy party and holiday settings, prefer your taboo on the lighter side, or want a story told from a woman’s point of view. It offers less if you need real stakes, or if you already favor the more intense family-taboo series.

Our verdict
Pleasure Island trades plot for scenery. The yacht party and the step-uncle angle give it a light holiday feel that sets it apart from the catalogue’s many domestic taboo stories, although the synopsis offers little beyond that atmosphere. Queue up the two free episodes on a lazy evening, and if the vibe clicks, 36 tokens covers the rest. We love that Candy keeps surprising us with settings like this one.
