The premise
Candy’s synopsis reads like a myth. Prince Theron returns home to meet his new stepmother, Queen Lysandra, and recognises her as the woman from his dreams. Visions they both share draw them into a forbidden affair. They are caught and banned, and then comes the twist: the king who could never please her offers his son both the wife and the crown.
Why this new series grabbed us
Stepmother stories are everywhere on Candy, but very few move the taboo into a royal court where the stakes are a throne. Here the father is a king, the stepmother is a queen, and the son is the heir, so every stolen moment is treason as well as a family scandal. The shared visions add a touch of fate: the title says the gods chose this, and the story plays it that way.
The ending the synopsis teases is the boldest part. Instead of revenge, the king hands over the queen and the kingdom, which is why Candy tags it Cuck as well as Mother and Taboo. The poster sets the scene with laurel crowns, a temple on the hill and the king watching from behind. What a show: this is the kind of epic, sun-drenched fantasy that no traditional adult studio would ever pay to build, and Candy squeezes it into five episodes.

The Gods Gave Me My Father’s Wife takes the stepmother story out of the suburbs and into a palace, with dreams, a banishment and a crown on the line. It is one of the most ambitious premises among Candy’s new releases, and at 36 tokens it is an easy yes: watch the two free episodes, and if Lysandra casts her spell on you too, the last three are worth every token.
