How the story begins
Nobody asks Solene Yoon what she wants. She is handed over to a bodyguard, an ex-soldier with a cold demeanor and a mission to complete, and feelings neither of them should indulge start to grow. Two things stand in the way: his contract explicitly forbids anything physical, and her father keeps a constant eye on them both. That is where Candy’s synopsis ends.
A bodyguard romance done by the book
Protector-and-protected stories are a familiar genre, and this series leans into it without apology. The rules are what make it work. A professional who cannot cross the line, a client who may want him to, and a watchful father lurking nearby create a slow-burn structure with the tension already baked in. Honestly, that setup had us reaching for the next episode right away.
- Clear obstacles. The contract and the father are two separate barriers, more structure than most five-parters take the trouble to build.
- Contrasting leads. A cold, disciplined guard facing a glamorous young woman is a pairing everyone understands at once.
- A well-known path. Anyone who knows the trope can guess the ending, and the synopsis gives no sign of a twist to change it.
A word about the title as well. The “daddy’s watchdog” is just the bodyguard her father employed, nothing more literal, and the phrase shows that her father’s presence is half of what makes it forbidden.
