The premise
Your dad is seeing someone new, Colette, and she is much younger than him. Friendly and relaxed, she is impossible to overlook. The attraction between you is clear from the very start, and the series wonders whether some lines exist to be crossed.
Told in the second person, the story makes you the son, so your father is the one who stands to be betrayed. Colette is the only character with a name and a description; the rest is kept for the episodes.
An extra episode compared with most
What stands out most about Dad’s New Girlfriend is its length. With 6 episodes rather than the usual five, it is one of only two series in the catalogue that run this long. For a slow burn built on looks and hesitation, the additional episode matters: the tension gets one more step before anything is resolved.
It still fits into one evening, without committing to one of Candy’s 15-episode sagas.
What the synopsis leaves out
On paper, it is pure atmosphere. Candy does not tell us whether the father suspects anything, whether Colette is devoted to him or what eventually turns attraction into action. Taboo close to the stepparent variety is familiar ground on Candy, and this premise does not give it a twist. What you get is Colette herself and a slow build, and honestly, that is plenty to keep us watching.
